My name is Jordan Coburn and I am a junior at the University of Kansas. I am pursuing a degree in Aerospace Engineering. Earning a scholarship from BEFABA was very helpful for my family and I because I was able to use the scholarship to help pay for school necessities. I was able to buy a computer and many other supplies from BEFABA’s scholarship.

Martin Luther King Jr. was a remarkable leader and visionary who dedicated his life to the pursuit of equality, justice, and peace. As a key figure in the American civil rights movement, he championed nonviolent activism to challenge racial segregation and discrimination. His powerful speeches, such as the iconic "I Have a Dream," continue to inspire people worldwide to stand up against injustice.

Each year, during Black History Month, we celebrate Dr. King's life and legacy with a special luncheon. This event not only commemorates his achievements but also strengthens our community by reflecting on the progress we’ve made and the work that still lies ahead. As part of this celebration, we proudly offer educational scholarships to young African American students, empowering them to pursue higher education and fulfill their own dreams. Through these scholarships, we continue to carry forward Dr. King's vision for a brighter, more just future for all.
